RESIDENTS of Ba and Lautoka are being urged to store drinking water as the Water Authority of Fiji will carry out repairs there.
WAF corporate communications team leader Fulori Turaga says officers have been deployed to sites damaged by the heavy downpour a few days ago.
“The Water Authority of Fiji wishes to issue a general advisory to its customers in Ba and Lautoka to store water and use water sparingly while it carries out necessary repair works on damaged infrastructure as a result of heavy rain and flooding experienced in the area,” she said.
WAF personnel have been assessing the damage and carrying out repairs. “Our team is assessing damage at Varaciva Pumping Station and Waiwai Treatment Plant in Ba,” Ms Turaga said.
“However, the repair of a 12 inch pumping main is almost complete and our team plans to continue with repairs at Moto Irish Crossing.
“As for Tavua, intakes pumps have been switched off to allow for the installation of electrical cables. Customers are being supplied through the Masimasi Reservoir and have not been affected.”
