WOMEN of Macuata’s 106 villages have been requested to contribute $2 each in an effort to help the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Caumatalevu with development projects.

The money will be collected during their Soli Day in November at the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Caumatalevu House in Labasa.

Soqosoqo president Adi Senimili Dyer said the association was financially-challenged and they needed money to support them with future projects.

“Through such contributions, we were able to build our office in Labasa 10 years ago because the women continued to submit their levies every year,” she said.

“The contributions stopped for a while and now we are trying to revive it so we can equip our office with furniture and equipment.”

She said the upcoming Soli Day was also a platform for women to showcase their talent through handicraft items and other income-generating projects.

“The event will also be an opportunity for women to mingle and socialise with one another because this will be an annual event,” she said.

Adi Senimili has also advised the women to utilise available resources and not to rely on government for assistance.
