PRIME Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday inspected the e-ticketing system at Draiba Primary School to ascertain the effectiveness of the system.
He spoke to senior officials from the Land Transport Authority and the Ministry of Education on the project, at the same time acquiring updated information on its progress.
He will also be inspecting other schools participating in the e-ticketing project this week.
LTA chief executive officer Naisa Tuinaceva said the project was still in progress and they were working on having participating bus operators install consoles in their buses.
LTA general manager operations Josefa Vosanibola said they had installed consoles in 144 buses from three different bus companies being trialled by six schools.
“There are 14,000 subsidised students in the Central Eastern Division,” he said.
