BOXING lovers in Fiji will have to wait a little longer to witness a major event in Fiji.
No boxing promotions have been held in Fiji since December last year.
Earlier this week, renowned promoter, Abdul Khan of Wild West Promotion, renewed his licence with the Boxing Commission of Fiji.
Khan's last promotion was in November when Joseph Kwadjo knocked out Joy Ali in the main bout in Nadi. He has promised to organise an event that will be held at the end of this year.
"There have been no major fights in Fiji this year and so I would like to put up a program in December," Khan said. He said nothing hadbeen confirmed at the moment and said the first thing he wanted to do was register with the BCF.
"Now that I have renewed my licence, I can start detailing what would need to go in the promotion in December," the Nadi-based promoter said. BCF board member Malakai Veisamasama said Khan was only the second promoter in Fiji to register under the promulgation behind Usman Ali of Lale's Boxing Promotions.
