THE Labasa soccer side has cleared the air regarding rumours surrounding the position of coach.

Earlier this week, reports were rife that Ivor Evans had been replaced by Bal Sanju Reddy.

Team manager Kunal Naidu told Times Sport both men would coach Labasa at the Courts Inter District Championship next month.

"Both Evans and Reddy are coaches of the team, one will look at the physical preparation, while one will handle the tactical preparation," Naidu said.

"They are both helping each other out to ensure Labasa is able to defend the IDC title next month.

"However, Evans is at the moment busy with personal commitments on a farm in Savusavu, while Reddy is attending a schools seminar in Savusavu."

Naidu said Reddy would join the team this Saturday while Evans might join either on Saturday or Monday.

He admitted that since the team had not been training together for the past few weeks, they suffered losses in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League competition.

"Yes, that is true, we did not train together as a team before the last round of games and that resulted us in losing to Lautoka and Suva respectively.

"Also, some players were playing in religious tournament and did not travel with the side to Viti Levu for those two games.

"But those players are back now and we are planning on beginning camp tomorrow (today), to start our preparations for the IDC title defence."

He added two Papua New Guineans, Kema Jack and Wira Wama will be part of the team for the IDC.

"I want them to join the side as soon as possible so they can train with the side in camp and the coaches and work out combinations.

"It would be best if we have them for two weeks before the tournament so they can fit into the team well," Naidu said.

The IDC will be held at Ba's Govind Park from October 10 to 14.
