THE excitement and hype surrounding the progress and development of the $30million Damodar City went up a notch after Superdrug Pharmacy Laucala joined the list of tenants to occupy the multiplex cinema complex.
Prabhay Nand, the young entrepreneur who owns the soon-to-be-opened pharmacy, signed the deal alongside Damodar Brothers (Films) Limited chief executive officer Div Damodar at Nand's Mall in Suva yesterday.
"It's going to be innovative, customer focused, new and fresh — something Fiji hasn't seen before," said Mr Nand, adding it would also serve as a gift shop with a variety of items for all customers.
"I think it's about time Fiji has something like this that will lift the standard of pharmacy all over the country.
"At the moment, we're looking at (employing) two full-time pharmacists. I'd say almost 10 employees (will be employed) full time.
"This will be the third Superdrug pharmacy to open (in the Central Division) and should be a cut above the rest. I'm looking forward to getting it all done. Hopefully we can open by Christmas."
Meanwhile, complex manager Carmelita Price revealed they had reached 75 per cent of total occupancy after yesterday's signing.
While details of the rent costs are kept confidential as part of their agreement with tenants, Ms Price said rent would depend on the size or space occupied and location of tenancy.
Ms Price said tenants would be allowed to operate as soon as their internal set up was complete but this would not necessarily mean the formal opening of the Damodar complex.
