UNIONIST Daniel Urai's departure from Nadi airport on Monday morning was delayed by the Border Police who were unaware of a court order allowing him to travel overseas.
A government statement stated that Mr Urai, the president of the Fiji Trades Union Congress was later allowed to attend the International Labour Organization (ILO) conference in China.
"The Fijian government regrets any inconvenience caused," the statement said.
Mr Urai is facing charges relating to political violence.
He was allowed to travel out of the country by the Suva Magistrates Court on Monday.
