DPP files submission

THE Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has filed a submission in relation to a case against four people charged with urging political violence.

DPP lawyer Ilisapeci Whippy told the High Court in Suva she filed appeal submissions to the defence parties yesterday afternoon.

Businesswoman Dr Mere Samisoni and her co-accused Apete Vereti, Semisi Lasike and Mataiasi Ragigia appeared before Justice Prabaharan Kumararatnam.

Mr Ragigia's lawyer, Filimone Vosarogo, appeared for Mr Vereti on the instructions of Aseri Vakaloloma while Dr Samisoni's lawyer, Samanunu Vaniqi, appeared for Mr Lasike on the instructions of Gordon and Chaudhry.

Mr Vosarogo and Ms Vaniqi confirmed receiving the submission from the DPP and requested 14 days to respond.

Justice Kumararatnam adjourned the case to October 15.
