A CLAM farm that has been set up with the assistance of the Ministry of Fisheries will be launched in the Yasawas this week.
Launched at the Barefoot Island Lodge, the clam farm is part of the resort's marine conservation efforts.
According to Barefoot Island Lodge marine biologist, Madeleine Carse, fisheries representatives would be supplying clams from Makogai Island for the farm.
Ms Carse said various chiefly representatives from nearby Naviti had shown their support for the clam farm and the taboo areas that had been implemented since the resort began earlier this year.
"We have been operating for nearly nine months now, and have a huge underlying theme for marine conservation," she said.
She said the clam nursery was part of the resort's clam rejuvenation project, which she had been a part of for many years while working at other resorts.
