Policy awareness

OFFICERS of the Public Service Commission's Workforce Performance Unit will conduct awareness sessions for civil servants in Suva, Labasa and Lautoka on its Conciliation Policy.

The policy was issued by the PSC in August.

Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said the policy was an alternative tool for resolving grievances within the civil service.

"We want all civil servants to be aware of this policy so that they are aware of the standard procedures required to address any issue that they want to raise a grievance about," Mr Chand said.

"This policy allows for the transparency of the grievance procedures in the civil service and also allows the PSC to ensure the interests and welfare of our public servants are well looked after.

"The Public Service Commission, as a responsible employer and the custodian for the terms and conditions of employment for all civil servants has developed the Conciliation Policy that will allow for prompt resolution of workplace issues.

"This is a proactive approach in assessing and resolving grievances in the civil service."
