CARPENTERS Hardware has contributed $5000 to the Local Government Ministry to rebuild the house of Mosese Taleimaimaleya which was destroyed by fire earlier this year at Makoi in Nasinu.

Permanent secretary Taina Tagicakibau received the contribution on behalf of the ministry and commended the company's initiative.

"Government is indeed pleased to publicly acknowledge this most significant contribution by Carpenters Hardware," Ms Tagicakibau said.

She said the kind act showed the company was adhering to its corporate responsibility by working with the government and the private sector.

She reiterated that housing was a basic human right which was also advocated by the Millennium Development Goals.

"We will immediately proceed in rehabilitating to enable Mosese to have his house rebuilt," she said.

Ms Tagicakibau said she was optimistic the contribution would remind other companies of their corporate responsibility.

Carpenters Hardware general manager Ameer Hussein said the company was happy to assist unfortunate people.

"Carpenters Hardware is indeed happy to make use of its corporate responsibility and is willing to continue to help the people of Fiji in one way or another," Mr Hussein said.
