THE four prisoners who were captured last Friday night on an island off Uduya Point outside Lami Town did not appear in the Suva Magistrates Court when their case was called yesterday.

The matter was called before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

The Suva Magistrates Court heard that the four, Epeli Qaraniqio, Tevita Sugu, Josaia Usumaki and Solomoni Qurai were in hospital and could not attend to their case in court.

The court also heard that the investigating officer who was investigating the matter needed more time to complete his investigations.

Mr Ratuvili transferred the matter to the High Court in Suva and said the charges would be heard in the High Court as well.

He said the matter would be called on October 1 to review the status of the four prisoners who are still in hospital.

Four of the five inmates who escaped from the Naboro minimum facility last Monday night were captured last Friday.

The hunt for the one remaining escapee continues.
