THERE will be no extension given for submissions after October 10, says Constitution Commission, chairman Professor Yash Ghai.
He said the commission needed to maintain its schedule with the hope that people would receive the draft document before the new year.
Prof Ghai said although the commission had set October 10 as the deadline for submissions, people would have another opportunity to make their views known, this time on the draft constitution prepared by the commission
He said the commission was required to ensure all people of Fiji participated in the process. He also urged the people to view the draft constitution once it's released.
Fellow commission member Professor Christina Murray said they were working round-the-clock to hear as many views as possible.
"We can't give an extension beyond our advertised date of 10 October," Prof Murray said.
However, she added there may be circumstances in which they would make exceptions.
"So, we are holding a public hearing in Suva on October 13, and will receive submissions there," she added.
