NATIONAL rep Valerio Nawatu scored a late goal to earn Lautoka a 1-0 victory over Rewa in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League at Govind Park in Ba yesterday.

The Serua native netted in the 80th minute of the match to end the Shop n Save Blues 2012 NFL campaign on a positive note.

The win was the tenth one for the Sugar City side which finished fourth in the competition behind winner Ba, second placed Suva and third placed Nadi.

Lautoka Football Association president Shalendra Prasad said they gave a few new boys a break.

"We tried Joape Mundre and Soheb Nur Ali in the starting line up," Prasad said.

"It was a good game. Rewa gave us a tough time. But again we missed many chances. There is a lot of room for improvement. We will be working on the combinations in the build up to the Inter District Competition."

Rewa finished fifth in the NFL.
