THE Fiji Muslim soccer team has suffered a major blow ahead of the FANCA tournament with the resignation of head coach Imdad Ali.

The FANCA tournament which features teams from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and America is scheduled to kick off in Nadi on Wednesday.

A frustrated Ali stepped down after the players failed to march into camp in Nadi on Friday.

Ali said his demands were not met.

"The players selected are scattered around the country," Ali said.

"To build a team for a major tournament you need to bring the players together for some time. You have to gauge their fitness level and build the combinations."

The FANCA tournament will be played at Prince Charles Park.
