JOURNALISTS have always been the voice of the people.
And now there is an organisation in Fiji that will bring all journalists and those working in the media together as one and have their voices heard.
These were the words of Fiji Media Workers Association's newly-elected interim president Indra Singh at the association's special general meeting at the Wesley Methodist Church Hall in Butt Street, Suva on Saturday.
Several media organisations, including media representatives from the Australia High Commission and former journalists, were a part of the association's first special general meeting. Those elected into office were vice president Elenoa Baselala and secretary Stanley Simpson.
"We may come from different media organisations that compete for the top and best stories but together we can finally have our voices heard. This is to strengthen the unity in the Fiji media," Mr Singh said.
The interim committee is expected to update its constitution and confirm a date for its annual general meeting this week.
