A LAWYER has been found guilty by the Independent Legal Services Commission of three counts of professional misconduct.
Between December 15 last year and January 23, 2012, lawyer Luseyane Ligabalavu failed to respond to a complaint lodged by Maina Wati. Ms Wati had contracted Ms Ligabalavu to act for her in regards to an estate matter and for Ms Ligabalavu to file documents to obtain probate in the probate registry. ILS Commissioner Justice Paul Madigan in his judgment said Ms Wati was unhappy with work done (or not done) and complained to the Chief Registrar. The CR wrote to Ms Ligabalavu asking for a response to the complaint.
Justice Madigan said there being no reply the Registrar wrote a final demand for explanation on January 10, 2012. Again there was no reply.
