MACUATA Volleyball Association president, Filimaina Baba labelled yesterday's round robin tournament a success.
This is the first time association is holding a knockout event in Macuata since the sport went dormant for two years.
"We have had a good response from teams within Labasa and we are encouraging other teams out there in Macuata to join the competition," said Baba.
"We have had 10 teams participate in today's tournament with 60 players turning up to take part; each team is levied $10 as competition entry fee out of which $2 directly goes to the association and the rest is diverted to prize monies for tournaments which will be held weekly.
"All teams that wish to be affiliated with the Macuata Volleyball Association will have to pay a levy of $50 which will enable the body to pay its $280 fees affiliation to the national association," she said.
Mrs Baba said the volleyball season, which starts this month and ends in April, will be an exciting one for the Macuata volleyball teams.
