Let your voices be heard

ABOUT 200 submissions were made to the Constitution Commission at the Parliament complex in Suva on Friday.

The submissions were from members and supporters of Ecumenical Centre for Research, Education and Advocacy (ECREA).

Father Kevin Barr of ECREA said they had conducted awareness programs and workshops for its members on how they could make their voices heard.

He said workers had raised concerns because they believed that Fiji could not have peace without justice.

"Our main message today (Friday) is justice and peace," Father Barr said.

"We had asked our members to make submissions on what they stand for and believe in.

"It could be anything as long as they make their voices heard to the commission."

Father Barr said they took the opportunity of making submissions in whatever way they could.

He said ECREA had waited for this moment to support the initiative of increasing wages for workers in Fiji.

He said members were urged to make submissions based on what they wished to be included in the new laws.
