"WE can only bring about change if we become part of it."
Those were the words of Education Minister Filipe Bole following a visit by ministry's officials to medium corrections facility at Naboro last week.
He said the visit was part of the support services provided by the ministry to the community.
"We have to involve ourselves and lend a helping hand to effect the changes," Mr Bole said in a statement.
"They have to see and feel that we care for them and not hear it only."
As part of their visit, education officials had the opportunity to witness some of the products produced by inmates in their workshop and tailor shop.
Mr Bole said it was encouraging to learn that an inmate was released to spend the weekend with his family last week.
Another inmate is also employed and his employer picks and drops him daily at Naboro.
The corrections officers explained how they are trying to build the bridge to help inmates become more responsible and to contribute positively to the growth of the nation, the statement said.
