THE dancing Azonto bus driver appeared before Land Transport Authority chief executive officer Naisa Tuinaceva in Lautoka yesterday.

Driver Ritesh Kumar who was allegedly dancing while driving is in "hot water" with the LTA after a video clip was circulated through social media sites YouTube and Facebook over the past few weeks.

LTA spokesman Alfred Wiliame said the driver was accompanied by his lawyer after being summoned by LTA to present his side of the story before the authority decided on his case.

"The driver and his lawyer informed the LTA CEO that the bus was not moving as shown in the social media network," Mr Wiliame said.

"We have heard his story and the LTA will now conduct a full investigation on the matter before making its final decision. The next meeting is scheduled for October 5," he said.

Mr Wiliame said his case would be treated like any other traffic infringement case where the driver was allowed to give his side of the story.

He said the allegation was serious and the authority would follow all rules and regulations.

"We will make sure that the law will take its course for the safety of passengers and to be a lesson to all drivers but first, we will have to complete our investigation before we can comment further.

"We will first hear his story before we can decide what action will be taken against him."
