A 38-YEAR-OLD man was sentenced to 15 years in jail with a non-parole period of 13 years for impregnating his 13-year-old daughter.
The High Court in Labasa found him guilty of four counts of rape earlier this week.
High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo said the man had brought tension to his loved ones and that was his family.
"Your case demonstrates the worse parental protection ever because you were supposed to look after your daughter," Justice Temo said.
"You created her (victim) world as a living hell after having sex with her without her consent. She trusted you but you breached it and you also threatened her if she told anyone about the incident," he said in passing sentence.
He sentenced the man to 15 years imprisonment for all the four counts, to be served concurrently.
"For the offence you have committed, I sentence you to 15 years in prison with a non-parole period of 13 years," Judge Temo said.
The incident took place at a province on Vanua Levu where the man had sexual intercourse with the victim on separate occasions between May to August in 2010.
