THE Hong Kong Sevens will host a 28-team competition during the 2013 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong tournament.
Next year’s tournament will be the biggest ever in the history of the 38-year old Hong Kong event.
The 28 teams to play in Hong Kong will be separated into two competitions with a 16-team Hong Kong HSBC Sevens World Series competition played alongside a 12-team pre-qualification tournament.
In the HSBC, SWS core team competition the 15 current core teams will take part alongside a 16th team from Asia.
The International Rugby Board has confirmed that this 16th team from Asia will be the overall champions of the Asian 7s series.
