The Water Authority of Fiji has confirmed that the fluoridation process of water supply in Fiji should start by October.
Authority team leader corporate communications Fulori Turaga said their two major treatment plants at Waila and Tamavua were equipped with two new fluoride feeder machines.
We have started the test and have bought sodium silico fluoride worth $1million for the whole year's supply, Ms Turaga said.
She said the cost of testing equipment was estimated to be at $40,000 each, dosing equipment purchase and installation is $210,000, yearly operation and maintenance cost is estimated at $20,000 for each machine.
Ms Turaga said the last fluoridation was successfully carried out only at Waila treatment plant from 1982 to early 1990.
