Case to answer

THE court has ruled that a woman accused of theft has a case to answer.

Vilimaina Waqa appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili on Wednesday.

She denied stealing a Diamond brand perfume, the property of TappooCity on February 26, 2010.

During the trial, prosecution called five witnesses to the stand.

Ms Waqa then made an application for a no case to answer, saying the State failed to call one Shalini, whose statement would have been important for the case.

But Mr Ratuvili ruled that Ms Waqa had a case to answer. The case has been adjourned to November 22 when defence will call its sole witness — the accused.
