POLICE are investigating a robbery at Mulomulo, Nadi, where a family was awakened by six masked men who stormed into their home early Tuesday morning.
Nadi Police Station officer in charge Assistant Superintendent Simione Bale confirmed receiving report of the robbery.
Homeowner Narendra Chand told The Fiji Times that the family was sleeping when they were awakened by a loud noise at the door.
He claimed the robbers took $3000 cash, jewellery estimated at $5000 and three mobile phones before driving away in his company’s vehicle which was later abandoned at Navakai, Nadi. “We were shocked when these six men broke the louvres of our house after failing to break the front door,” said Mr Chand.
“They blindfolded me and my son and they tied us, we were really frightened but luckily no one was hurt.
“They later got away with my employer’s vehicle which was parked outside.”
Meanwhile, about 20 passengers escaped death when a bus they were in tumbled at Nadari, Ba yesterday.
A 23-year-old passenger Alveen Nand said the driver lost control while driving up a hill.
“Five passengers were rushed to the hospital with minor injuries.” MBL transport owner Imroz Janif Akbhar said an air pipe burst which resulted in the bus rolling back.
