THE Nadroga Sydney soccer team defeated Ba 2-1 on Sunday to retain the Fiji/Australian Soccer Association organised Battle of the Giants tournament held at the Ninevah Sports Soccer field in Sydney.

The tournament brought together former Fiji residents that reside in Sydney.

The four-day tournament saw 10 teams compete in the premier competition and eight in the veterans grade.

Nadroga started its campaign on a low note with a draw against Dreketi in its opening game.

In the quarter-final Nadroga, which had the services of former Nadroga striker Eron Underwood, defeated Rewa 2-0.

Underwood was supported well by former Navua rep Esala Ali.

Nadroga managed to shut Labasa in the semi-final, winning 2-0.

The game went into extra time with former Rewa rep Surya Singh rising to the ocassion to seal the winner.

Prominent players that featured in the tournament include Alvin Singh who played for Dreketi, James Naka and Shameer Ali who appeared for Nasinu and Alvin Avinesh for Lautoka.
