THE word "Fijian" should only be referred to the iTaukei and not people of other races.

Viliame Maivalenisau said the Lomaitivi Provincial Youth Council recognised the word "Fijian" be used as the main identifying name of the iTaukei people.

While making submissions on behalf of the council, Mr Maivalenisau said Fiji must also be recognised as a Christian state.

He said with youth development in the province, youth co-ordinators should be fully paid by the government through provincial councils.

He said they were doing a lot of work for the youths and right now they were only paid allowances.

Mr Maivalenisau said as a member of the youth council they proposed iTaukei landowners should be entitled to their own resources and qoliqoli.

They also proposed the reinstatement of the Great Council of Chiefs as the highest forum of the iTaukei people.
