CANE farmers in Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba are happy with the way the Penang and Rarawai mills have been operating.
Penang Rarawai Cane Producers Association chairman Gyan Singh said the farmers had expressed delight at the mills' operations.
"Although there were a few teething problems in the beginning like delays and mechanical problems, things have improved in recent weeks," said Mr Singh.
With a membership of 6900, he said many had noted an improvement in their crops since the floods earlier this year.
"Many of them went through a lot and experienced a lot of damage but they have come back and they are yielding profits from their harvests.
"Many have remained optimistic and believe things will improve further before the crushing season is over."
Earlier this year, the association collaborated with the Rama Krishna Society to distribute seedlings to the affected farmers.
