A WOMAN who suffered cuts to her body during a double killing at Vunivau in Labasa on Monday morning is in a serious condition.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed this yesterday.
She said the victim was still admitted at Labasa Hospital.
"The condition of the victim is serious and we are keeping a close watch on her," Ms Naisoro said.
It was earlier reported the victim's mother and grandfather were allegedly axed to death by her stepfather in the early hours of Monday.
On the 57-year-old suspect, Ms Naisoro said he remained in custody.
"The suspect is in custody under the officers' supervision in Labasa and will be charged soon," she said.
Ms Naisoro said investigations were continuing.
"The post-mortem examinations of the two deceased have yet to be conducted," she said.
The double killings shocked Vunivau settlement. Police have also confirmed the suspect is a US citizen.
