THE Raiwaqa Volleyball Association is organising a knockout tournament to open its 2012 season.

Tournament co-ordinator Irami Rasaubale said apart from opening their season, another reason behind this one-day tournament this Saturday was to try and revive the sport in Raiwaqa.

He said they wanted to start their season on a high note.

The former Raiwaqa volleyball skipper said they wanted to take Raiwaqa volleyball back to where it was in the past.

"This tournament is open to all volleyball teams in Raiwaqa and those from outside Raiwaqa," Rasaubale said.

"What we want to do is to attract as many teams as possible so that we can have a very competitive tournament."

"We have decided to give the winner 70 per cent of the total earnings from our registration fee for the knockout tournament."

Rasaubale says the registration fee for the tournament on Saturday is $15 per team.

"We have a lot of unemployed youths in Raiwaqa who want to participate and that's the reason we have kept the registration fees at $15 so we can attract as many teams as possible."

Rasaubale said teams wanting to join the Raiwaqa Volleyball Association this season could also take part in this Saturday's tournament at Ed's Court in Raiwaqa.

"For teams that want to be part of Raiwaqa association they will have to pay the $50 registration fee which is due on the 29th of this month."

"Teams that want to take part in the knockout tournament can contact Tuniu on 9247071 or 354 1448," Rasaubale said.
