THE New Zealand Fiji under-17 team had its first training run in Suva yesterday as they prepare for the Tagitupou Tanoa Challenge this week.
The team arrived into the country on Monday and wasted no time as they headed straight to Albert Park yesterday morning for a training run.
The New Zealand Fiji side will be one of six teams that will battle for the Tagitupou Tanoa.
The other teams playing in the tournament are local based Sabeto Roosters, Saru Dragons, Narere Tigers, Lami Steelers and Davuilevu Knights.
The Lami Steelers will be one of the favourites in the tournament as they have just played in the Fiji National Rugby League U17 finals last Saturday.
The Steelers lost to Lautoka Crushers 26-5 but the game was a good build-up for the Tagitupou battle this week.
The six teams will be divided into two pools. The tournament starts at Albert Park tomorrow.
