WITHIN a week, a primary school in Labasa has become a target for thieves who have walked away with computers and computer parts.

Saint Augustine Public School last week had its computer lab attacked by thieves who ripped open the computers and removed their parts.

On Sunday night, the same lab was raided again.

Thieves entered through the ceiling and stole two computers.

Manager Dewan Chand said the management had met to discuss the issue.

"I feel for our innocent children who have been looking forward to beginning with computer classes at the new school lab and this sort of act is inhumane," he said.

"We do not know how people can be so selfish as to rob innocent children of their right to a brighter future."

Mr Chand said the school had been robbed five times and all cases were pending with police.

Last week, school headteacher Setefano Curuki appealed for kind donations of computer parts which were also stolen from 10 computers in the school lab.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed that police have identified a suspect who is yet to be arrested and questioned.

She said investigations continued.
