THE Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has given its assurance that soldiers serving in the Middle East are safe in spite of the recent outbreaks of violence in various Arab States over the weekend.
There are 330 Fijian soldiers deployed in the Sinai Peninsula, a further 228 are serving peacekeeping duties with the United Nations in Iraq.
There are also four commissioned officers deployed in Sudan with another United Nations mission.
Speaking to local media yesterday RFMF director human resource management Lieutenant Colonel Litia Seruiratu said the safety of troops was of paramount importance to the RFMF. "The troops remain safe in the various camps mainly in Iraq, Sudan and in Sinai. And their morale remains high," Lt-Col Seruiratu said.
"The RFMF has been closely monitoring the situation on the ground over the past few hours and I can assure you that the troops remain safe and well."
