NATIONAL rep Vikrant Chandra added another feather to his cap after winning the Total Fiji-sponsored Vatukoula Open on Sunday.

The Suva lawyer finished the 36 holes tournament three shots clear of fellow national rep Olaf Allen Jr.

He carded a total of two under par 144. Vikrant scored rounds of 72 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Allen Jr totalled 147. He scored one over par 74 in the opening round and even par 73 in the second round.

This was Vikrant's third major title for the season. He won the Fiji Amateur Championship and the Nadi Open titles earlier this year.

A fortnight ago Vikrant also topped the Ba Open Championship but was forced to relinquish the title after failing to comply with the rules.

Vikrant said the win was a good build-up for him ahead of next month's World Amateur Teams Championship in Turkey.

"It was great going to Vatukoula after four or so years," Vikrant said.

"It was really exciting manoeuvring the ball around the small yet tight and hilly golf course. I managed to hit the ball really well off the tee and this kept me in the game. Then I was able to hit my approach shots well on a number of occasions on both days, which enabled me to shoot under par on both days."

Vikrant, Allen Jr and Anuresh Chandra will represent Fiji in Turkey. The national side will fly out on September 29.
