ONE person has died while another one is fighting for his life at the Sigatoka Hospital after an early morning accident at the weekend.
Director Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police Mahesh Mishra confirmed the accident occured at Maui Bay along the Coral Coast on Saturday morning.
He said the 28-year-old man died instantly while the passenger, a 23-year-old man, is in a critical condition.
Police said the driver, who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, lost control and veered off the road.
Police are calling on drivers to be vigilant at all times when on the road.
The road death toll now stands at 31 compared 34 for the same period last year.
