KAILA - Three devastating fires that had occurred in Lautoka less than a week from each other have left the residents in shock.
This may not be such a surprise for the National Fire Authority.
"Of greater concern is the recent trend of structural fires in that it is mostly located in urban areas and majority of these house fires are in residential homes," said Mr. Jone Koroi, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of a survey conducted in 2009.
While the causes of these fires are yet to be confirmed at the time this article is written, they are yet another warning to the public to be vigilant about keeping their possessions fireproof.
There have been no casualties although houses have been burnt and with it every possession the victims did not have on them.
"The firefighters are to be commended for their tireless efforts to put out the fires," said Temalesi Adi, a resident in the area where one of the fires occurred.
She added that despite the water cut, the firefighters made sure they fought on to contain the flames.
