THE Rewa rugby side is calling for the backing of their supporters for their crucial promotion relegation match against Namosi today.

The GP Batteries-sponsored game kicks off at 3pm at Nausori's Ratu Cakobau Park.

Team manager Inia Tubui said since the match was on home ground, their supporters should outnumber their opponent's fans.

He said the match was important to Rewa as they try to remain in the major division despite their poor outing this season.

The side did not win any game in the Digicel Cup competition and the lone point they registered was a bonus point from their 3-5 loss to Suva in the last round of competition.

"We really need the support of our loyal supporters tomorrow (today) because this match is very important as we try to secure our place in the major division," Tubui said.

"The backing of the vanua will really motivate the team if they see that our supporters are more compared to our opponent's supporters," he said.

He said the team had prepared well to face Namosi who have had a dream run in the B Division competition this season.

While the challengers have named some well renowned sevens players in their team, Tubui said even though there were no major players in his team, they would not be a pushover.

"We don't have any big players but do not underestimate our players.

"They are young and have prepared and trained to play to the best of their abilities.

"We respect Namosi but our boys will be giving it their best shot on the field to try and help us win.

"My message to the boys tomorrow (today) will be to minimise their mistakes and to play with confidence because we are behind them and we know the vanua is backing the team," Tubui said.
