TRAVEL experts in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific have voted the Fiji National Provident Fund owned InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa as the best resort in Fiji.

A statement issued by the resort said it was voted by industry colleagues and travel peers at the HM (Hotel Management) Award as the best in Fiji for hotel and accommodation excellence.

InterContinental Fiji was also awarded the top honour for its service to the community.

"The hotel's extensive Community Care program has seen it transform the local Malomalo Primary School, rebuilding the exterior and providing essential learning tools, such as books, computers and toys, to students," the statement said.

"InterContinental Fiji is now looking to expand its community service efforts to other local schools, in support of the Fijian Government's initiative to alleviate poverty and help make Fiji a knowledge-based society."

"We are thrilled our fellow peers hold InterContinental Fiji in such high regard" InterContinental Fiji general manager, Scott Williams said.

"The guest experience is always at the forefront of everything our team undertakes and it is a great honour to be recognised as the best in the country."
