THE police have revealed the death of a 23-year-old man as a result of an alleged assault by nightclub bouncers and the assault of a man highlighted by a social networking site were two separate incidents.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said they received information of people assuming the two incidents were one and the same.

"Once again, we reiterate this is not the same incident of an alleged assault which was highlighted by a social networking site," she said.

A 23-year-old man died on Tuesday after being allegedly assaulted by nightclub bouncers. Ms Naisoro said the deceased's mother claimed her son was assaulted on August 25 and admitted to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital's Acute Surgical Ward on August 29 and later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit after complaining of body pains.

"Details will not be revealed until the investigations are complete," she said concerning the post-mortem examination of the deceased which was conducted on Thursday.

The second incident was an alleged assault of a man at another nightclub in Suva.

A witness had lodged a complaint with the police claiming the man was repeatedly beaten as he lay on the ground bleeding and screaming for help.
