Jail for man
AN executive of the Fiji Football Association and former schoolteacher has been sentenced to four years in prison by the Labasa Magistrates Court. Dewan Chand, who was charged with two counts of defilement of a student in 2010, appeared before Magistrate Ropate Cabealawa.
Rape charge
A MAN appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court facing a rape charge. He waived his right to legal counsel when he appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza on Thursday. The prosecution applied for the man to be remanded because of the seriousness of the charge. It also applied for the matter to be transferred to the High Court.
