THE Fiji Electricity Authority is carrying out thorough tests on its transmission lines between the Wailoa power station and Wailoa switching station to ensure power outage that occurred over the weekend does not happen again.
The power outage on Sunday afternoon which was caused by a fault between the Wailoa power station and Wailoa switching station affected the whole of Viti Levu.
This was the second outage to affect Viti Levu within a month.
"We are carrying out a thorough analysis and testing of this portion of the power system to ensure no further outages of this nature occur," FEA chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel said.
He said the cost of the tests analysis and tests was little compared to the inconvenience and loss of revenue for the FEA.
Mr Patel advised all FEA customers to realise that there were many reasons as to why power systems did fail.
"FEA apologises for the inconvenience caused and seeks the co-operation and understanding of all our valued customers," Mr Patel said.
