NINE police officers have been suspended and investigated for alleged corrupt dealings.
The Fiji Police Force has reminded its staff that no officer above the law and that any officer found to be engaging in corrupt or illegal dealings would be punished accordingly.
There is confirmation that an internal investigation is being carried out by the Fiji Police Force.
"The officers have been sent home for alleged corrupt dealings with various members of the public," a statement from the Ministry of Information said.
"The Fiji Police Force takes seriously all allegations of corrupt practices within the force and will thoroughly investigate all allegations," it said. "The Fiji Police Force are the keepers of law and order in the country and officers must lead by example."
The statement said those undermining the ethics of the force and the laws of this country should resign.
