SIX Asians are in the custody of the Immigration Department following an early morning raid yesterday.

Director Immigration Major Nemani Vuniwaqa said there were signs human trafficking was involved.

He said there were three women and three men.

Major Vuniwaqa said they received a tip off at 4am yesterday and a Suva hotel was raided.

He said the women arrived in the country on September 7 with a promise of employment in Fiji.

However, upon their arrival they found there was no work and things did not seem right to them.

Major Vuniwaqa said the women wanted to get out of the ring.

He said his department was still conducting investigations and there were certain issues that had yet to be proven.

"We want to find out if this was a case of human trafficking," Major Vuniwaqa said. "There are signs that human trafficking is involved."
