THE Fiji Electricity Authority will officially open the $200million worth Nadarivatu Hydro Power Plant today.
FEA's executive projects manager Karunesh Rao said the project would be officially opened by the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
The completion of the project means the government will save about $22m a year in fuel costs.
Earlier this year, Commodore Bainimarama said the opening of the Nadarivatu dam would result in the reduction of the nation's dependency on fossil fuels.
"We will also be using renewable energy to contribute towards a cleaner environment," he said.
The ceremony starts at 11.30am.
