LAUTOKA businesses should take advantage of the current popularity of the Sugar City as it continues to host national and local events.

While businesses thrive from the continuous events that are being held at Churchill Park, the city is also being promoted as a good place for tourists to visit.

One such business that believes Lautoka can match Nadi as a popular hot spot for tourists is the Punjas Group of Companies.

Group marketing manager Gopal Jadhav said developments in Lautoka over the past year was testament that the city was becoming more interesting.

“Over a period of the last one year, I have seen a lot of developments in Lautoka.

“I have been staying here for 10 years and it is getting to be quite an interesting city to live in for the residents and also for tourists who come here,” said Mr Jadhav.

He said increasing developments would assist in attracting more investors to Lautoka.

“I believe more and more people are looking at investing here as well as coming here and being a resident of this place.

“It has the basic infrastructure at promoting itself as a developed city.

“There are shops, restaurants and hotels here that provide the basic infrastructure for tourists too,” he said.

As the major sponsor of the Arise Trade Fare 2012, the group was among other distributors displaying products at Churchill Park yesterday.

Other businesses that participated at “Distributors Day” were Morris Hedstrom Supermarkets, CJ Patel and Ashabhai.
