THE Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF)has cleared the air over why a professional light heavyweight boxer did not get the approval to travel to Australia for a fight.
Yesterday, boxer Vitori Natawake and his trainer Gyan Singh told Times Sport they were not going overseas to represent Fiji.
"We were told we can't go because we were not registered but this has nothing to do with Fiji or the boxing commission," Singh said. "This fight was just arranged for Vitori and for his personal testing."
BCF board member Malakai Veisamasama said BCF did not stop Natawake.
"He was not given a visa by the Australian High Commission and so it was after that they came to us," Veisamasama said. "But he came to us a little too late as the fight was on Friday and he came to us on Thursday and we couldn't arrange the letter of confirmation on time as the embassy closed at 4pm."
