FORMER Suva soccer rep Maciu Tuilau netted twice to help his Lincoln side beat Nadera 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the Nasinu Football Association local league competition.
The striker's first goal helped Lincoln lead 1-0 at half time and in the second half, a Praneel Chand goal and Tuilau's second sealed Nadera's exit from the competition at Rishikul College grounds in Nasinu on Sunday.
In the first quarter-final, defending league champions Waste Recycles survived against Kalabu, winning 4-3 on penalty kicks.
Nathan Kumar, who has been Nasinu's top goal scorer in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries Premier Division National Football League, scored the lone goal against Chelsea, to guide his R Hooker Frends UTD team into the semi-finals.
In the third quarter-final, Speedwing beat Mandir 1-0 to qualify for the semi-final of the Lincoln Refrigeration and Aldex Trading-sponsored competition.
Association's grounds chairman Shaneel Maharaj said the four winning teams were the top sides in the 24-club competition.
He said the semi-finals would see some of the toughest games in the league since competition started in January.
Speedwing will face Waste Recycles in the first semi-final and Lincoln will be up against Frends in the second this Sunday.
"Speedwing will be going for revenge since they lost to Waste Recycles 0-1 in last year's semi-final," Maharaj said.
"The lone goal in that semi-final was scored from a penalty and this year the boys from Nasole area (Speedwing) might cause an upset since they have been playing together for the past 10 years and look impressive," he said.
"But Waste Recycles are the defending champions and are a very fit team in this competition and we cannot count them out."
The second semi-final will the tougher of the two as both teams boast some experienced reps.
"Lincoln has nine Nasinu district reps while the two top scorers for Nasinu in the National League, Nathan Kumar and Navinesh Akash, are playing for Frends, so this will be a very tough semi-final.
"So we have two of the biggest clashes of the league this weekend and we would like to invite soccer lovers in Nasinu to come to Rishikul College grounds on Sunday and witness the games," Maharaj said.
