PLAYERS of the 24-member national sevens training squad will only be released for district duties this weekend.
This was confirmed to Times Sport by national coach Alifereti Dere who returned from his village yesterday.
Nadroga's Ulaiasi Lawavou, Josefa Domolailai and Apisalome Waqatabu are expected to feature for the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy holders in their challenge match against Northland this Saturday.
National sevens reps Setefano Cakau, Lepani Botia, Ilai Tinai and Joji Ragamate are expected to play for Namosi in their promotion/relegation match against Rewa which will also be played this Saturday.
The 24 players named for camp were present at the Fiji Rugby Union house yesterday morning and departed for camp at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua.
Dere, upon his return from the Western Division, joined the team at QEB yesterday afternoon.
"The camp is for three days so all players will be released," Dere said.
"And those who are named in district side to play in either the Farebrother or the promotion/relegation will be excused and they can play," he said.
He said no players would be released for other competitions from next week.
"In the next three weeks, no player will be released to play for their club or district.
"This is because we want to ensure they do not get injured or anything happens to them.
"Any degree of injury, no matter how small, can be a problem in our preparation process so we will not release any players after next week," Dere said.
The players in camp will be involved in theoretical preparation and administration purposes for the next three days in camp.
