BOB Speed lives up to his name.
The WorldMark Resort Denarau Island general manager has beat those in his field winning the South Pacific general manager at the 2012 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence.
Held in Sydney, Australia last Saturday, the HM Awards are the leading awards for the accommodation industry in the Asia Pacific region with a record number of more than 2000 entries received and only 41 finalists chosen this year.
"I feel honored to receive the highly commended award for the South Pacific General Manager category and I feel very privileged to be working and living in Fiji," Mr Speed said.
"I am proud to be working with a great team here who are service orientated and appreciate their role in Fiji's tourism industry which is reflected in the hospitality that is extended to our guests."
He was nominated for the award for being a hands-on resort manager who is constantly inspired to find new ways to deliver business goals and ensure an exceptional holiday experience for all guests.
He is overseeing a major redevelopment of the resort and was commended for his management of the resort during the Fiji floods earlier in the year ensuring the safety of guests and staff.
WorldMark Resort Denarau Island is undergoing an extensive redevelopment which will include the construction of 63 new spacious and luxurious styles of accommodations ranging from one and two-bedroom deluxe apartments through to presidential villas with private plunge pools overlooking the ocean.
Refurbishments are also being carried out on the resort's facilities including the pool area, restaurant, car park and reception and lobby area.
